Webinar on "SCADA and Substation Automation: the Platforms for all Automation"

On October 6th Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE) Department arranged a webinar titled "SCADA and Substation Automation: the Platforms for all Automation". The webinar was chaired by Brigadier General A K M Nazrul Islam.

Guest speaker for the webinar, John D. McDonald, P.E., is a smart grid business development leader for GE’s grid solutions business. He is a Life Fellow of IEEE and was awarded the IEEE Millennium Medal, the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Excellence in Power Distribution Engineering Award, the IEEE PES Substations Committee Distinguished Service Award, the IEEE PES Meritorious Service Award, the 2015 CIGRE Distinguished Member Award, and the 2015 CIGRE USNC Attwood Associate Award. He is the Past President of the IEEE PES, the VP for Technical Activities for the US National Committee (USNC) of CIGRE, the Past Chair of the IEEE PES Substations Committee, and the IEEE Division VII Past Director. He was on the Board of Governors of the IEEE-SA (Standards Association) and is an IEEE Foundation Director-Elect.

In this informative webinar, John D. McDonald presented the History and Development of Automation Systems, SCADA/DMS Functions, SCADA Systems Building Blocks, Outage and Outage Case Studies etc. At the end of the webinar, Brigadier General A K M Nazrul Islam handed over a virtual souvenir to  John D. McDonald as a token of appreciation.
