Team MIST AVRO Wins "Best New Entrant" at 40th Annual Vertical Flight Society Competition

The team MIST AVRO was awarded “Best New Entrant” honor in the undergraduate category of the 40th Annual Student Design Competition arranged by Vertical Flight Society, sponsored by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Co. The team received a prize money of $500. This team was the only and first ever participants from Bangladesh. Press Release

The Vertical Flight Society is the world's earliest and largest technical society dedicated to improving the understanding of vertical flight technology. Since its inception as the American Helicopter Society (AHS) in 1943, just as the first US helicopter entered service, the Society has served as the major platform for the exchange of information on vertical flight technology. The Vertical Flight Society's annual Student Design Competition challenges students to design a vertical lift aircraft that meets specific requirements, serves as a practical exercise for engineering students at colleges and universities around the world, and fosters student interest in vertical flight technology. The 40th (2022-2023) Student Design Competition was entitled, “High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) Aircraft.”

MIST AVRO team was consisted of 10 students from AE -12 including Md Ridwan Hasan as Team Captain, Nahida Islam, B. M. Saif, Maisha Farzana Antora, Hassan Tawsif Tazwar, Sudipto Tushar Das, Mehnaz Elahee Mohona, Saikat Khan, Asif hasnayeen, Mashroor Shahriar Nafim. The faculty advisor of the team was Lec Saif Reza.
