Research Presentation and Publication Recognition

The Department of Nuclear Science & Engineering has consistently demonstrated excellence in research dissemination and scholarly communication at national and international platforms:

  • Best Presentation Award – ACMI 2021 At the International Conference on Automation, Control and Mechatronics for Industry 4.0 (ACMI), held on 8–9 July 2021 in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, Sangida Akter received the Best Presentation Award for her paper entitled “Comparative Analysis of Thermal Hydraulic Parameters of AP-1000 and VVER-1200 Nuclear Reactor for Turbine Trip Concurrent with Anticipated Transient Without SCRAM (ATWS)”. The study, co-authored by Md. Sadman Anjum Joarder, Md. Ghulam Zakir, Altab Hossain, Md. Abdur Razzak, and Md. Shafiqul Islam, was recognized for its methodological rigor and contribution to nuclear safety analysis.

  • International Poster Competition Champion – Spain, 2025 Level-3 students Md. Marufur Rahman Reyad and Noor Zahin, under the supervision of Md. Asaduzzaman, achieved Champion status at the 3rd International Poster Competition 2025 organized by UniV, Spain. Their project on SCRAM impact in VVER-1200 accidents surpassed 326 global teams, reflecting the department’s strong international research presence.

Innovation and Technology Competition Success

Students and faculty have advanced innovation-driven projects that integrate nuclear safety with cutting-edge ICT solutions, earning distinction at both national and international levels:

  • Bangladesh ICT & Innovation Awards 2025 The project “RADSAFE – IoT & ML Powered Nuclear Radiation Safety System”, developed by Level-4 student Mubin Hossain Omio in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Abdus Sattar Mollah, secured the Champion position. The project was subsequently selected to represent Bangladesh at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025 in Taiwan, underscoring its global competitiveness.

  • Innovation World Cup 2026 – Bangladesh National Round Mubin Hossain Omio earned a Silver Medal for his innovation and problem-solving excellence, qualifying for the 2026 international finals in Indonesia. This recognition highlights his creativity, technological commitment, and contribution to advancing nuclear safety through ICT.

  • BEAR Summit & National Semiconductor Symposium 2025 As Lead Researcher, Mubin Hossain Omio achieved a Top 3 position in Electronics for his project “RADSAFE – IoT & Machine Learning Powered Nuclear Radiation Detection, Monitoring and Safety System.” His work demonstrated interdisciplinary expertise in electronics, IoT, machine learning, and nuclear safety, bringing significant recognition to the department.

  • APICTA Awards 2025 – Kaohsiung, Taiwan Representing Bangladesh, Mubin Hossain Omio showcased innovative ICT solutions emphasizing scalability, sustainability, and real-world application. His participation strengthened Bangladesh’s presence in the Asia-Pacific ICT community and facilitated international knowledge exchange.

Student Achievements in National and Global Competitions

Beyond research and innovation, students have excelled in competitive academic and knowledge-based platforms:

  • Future Bangladesh Challenge 2025 Level-4 student Mubin Hossain Omio secured the Champion position in this prestigious national competition organized by The Bangladesh Dialogue. His achievement reflects analytical thinking, innovation, and commitment to addressing future-oriented national challenges.

  • National Math Olympiad 2025 Level-2 student Md. Abid Hossain achieved 8th position in the 16th National Math Olympiad (Dhaka North Zone), held on 21 November 2025 at Daffodil International University. Competing among 188 students from 55 universities, his success highlighted exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Global Atomic Quiz 2025 – Rosatom Global Educational Project A team comprising Moskayet Mashreq (Level 4), Marufur Rahman (Level 3), and Afsin Rahman Shuvra (Level 2) secured 3rd position among 28 competitors. Held on 10 November 2025 at the Information Center on Nuclear Energy, Novo Theatre, Bijoy Sharani, Dhaka, the competition emphasized global collaboration and talent development in nuclear science and technology.
