Design & Fabrication of an UAV (SAR, 2024)

The final year thesis was titled “DESIGN AND BUILD OF A SMALL FIXED WING UAV FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE APPLICATION”. My thesis mainly focused on the precise fabrication, autonomous flight control, GPS communication & data transmission through telemetry module and data collection & analysis of various digital & analogue sensors such as IMU, air speed sensor, barometer etc. also the video transmission & recording for computer vision and image processing for SAR applications.

ACHIEVEMENTS

2nd place (Team category) | AIAA Int’l Student Conference (2024)

Held at Swinburne University of Technology Hawthorn in Melbourne, Australia. Our project, "Construction of a Small Fixed Wing UAV for Surveillance," showcased our team's dedication, innovation, and technical expertise. AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) International Student Conference was held from 25–26 November 2024. This was a hybrid event offering undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to present their valuable work and projects related to Aerospace and Astronautics Industry.

UAV Project Showcased | Honored by Chief of Army Staff (2024)

Received a token of appreciation from the respected Chief of Army Staff at the Indigenously Made UAV Project Exhibition on November 12 at Jolshiri Golf Club, our UAV, "Fixed Wing UAV for Surveillance," was showcased. The event, organized by the Army Aviation Group, was honored by the Chief of Army Staff, who attended as the chief guest. I

Team Leader | AIAA Asia Competition (4th Position in Asia) (2024)

As the team leader, I spearheaded a talented group of students in the prestigious 2024 AIAA Design/Build/Fly (DBF) Competition organized by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Our team’s dedication, innovative thinking, and collaborative spirit led us to secure an impressive 4th position among top contenders in Asia. We tackled complex challenges related to aerospace engineering, demonstrating effective project management, technical expertise, and seamless coordination.

Best New Entrant in 40th Annual Student Design Competition (2022)

40th Annual Student Design Competition, arranged by the Vertical Flight Society, sponsored by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Co. was entitled, “High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) Aircraft.” The goal was to design a large VTOL aircraft that would balance sustained hover operations with high-speed and high-altitude cruise capabilities.

EXPERIENCE

Industrial Training at NOVOAIR LTD. 2023 As the part of industrial attachment, I was assigned at the MRO & CAMO unit of NOVOAIR for one month at HSIA. I gained knowledge of the overall MRO organizational structure and a thorough rundown of the general commercial aircraft maintenance & repairing process— specifically, the ATR 72 aircraft during my stay there. In addition, I had the opportunity to visit the BAF 214 MRO unit, which is the overhauling project of F-7 fighter aircraft.
