Team from the CSE Department Excels in Environment MegaFest on World Environment Day 2023
On June 5th, 2023, the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day was celebrated by MIST Environment Club with an incredible event called the Environment MegaFest. Students from different disciplines came together to showcase their ideas and projects aimed at protecting and preserving our environment. Among the participants, a team of three students from the Dept. of CSE, MIST stood out with their exceptional performance in the Poster Presentation segment.
Team MIST Flood Predictor consists of three brilliant individuals: Ellora Yasi, Tariq Hasan Rizu and Tasnim Ullah Shakib from CSE-20. Under the guidance of their dedicated supervisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nusrat Sharmin, they presented their thesis focusing on developing a flood forecasting and visualization system using machine learning. Their efforts were recognized and rewarded as they secured an impressive 1st Runner-up position in the competition, earning a well-deserved prize money.
The prize-giving ceremony was graced by the presence of the Head of the Dept. of CSE, Brig Gen Md Mahfuzul Karim Majumder, who attended as a guest. The Acting Commandant of MIST, Brig Gen Md Wahidul Islam, handed over the prizes to the winners as the Chief Guest of the event.

The recognition received by the team not only brings pride to the Dept. of CSE but also serves as an inspiration to other students. Their dedication, hard work and innovative thinking truly embody the spirit of World Environment Day, reminding us of the power of collaboration between technology and environmental consciousness.
