  Research:

Design and Performance analysis of Spoof Surface Plasmon Polariton (SSPP) interconnects over conventional electrical interconnects for on chip high frequency ultrafast data transmission.

Brief Description: A comb like corrugated metallic interconnect is introduced, where the excitation of the dangling bond electrons on the interface of dielectric and metal is used to propagate signal from one IC to another, instead of conventional interconnect waveguide. In this research, we have come out with a complete elimination of crosstalk between adjacent signal propagation channels, usage of high frequency bandwidth and efficient coupling of signal within the chip interface resulting in low energy loss. Also we have found that this novel SSPP interconnects provide multiple wide bands with around 30GHz bandwidth in Terahertz range, where the traditional electrical interconnects face high insertion loss, and very low transmission in this high frequency range.
